Prepare to get a little deeper into James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) on ‘Supergirl’.  The supporting character/love interest has kind of floundered for a while now, even adopting the super identity of The Guardian, which didn’t really resonate.  Perhaps the arrival of a family member will spice things up in the right way.  Azie Tesfai will join ‘Supergirl”s fourth season as Kelly Olsen, James’ sister.  Here is a description of the character:

Kelly is an intelligent and insightful woman who spent time in the military in order to pay for medical school. She’s recently discharged from the military and is currently finishing her training as a psychiatrist. She’s got a large heart and cares deeply about others.

In addition to Kelly, it was recently revealed that DC mega-baddie Lex Luthor would pop up to torment Supergirl.  But she may have help, as it appears that The CW is working to give Tyler Hoechlin his own ‘Superman’ series, which would obviously be set in the same world as ‘Supergirl’.  Both Hoechlin and newcomer Elizabeth Tulloch, who will embody the Arrowverse’s Lois Lane, will play a major role in the upcoming crossover event dubbed ‘Elseworlds’.

Tesfai will be recurring in Season Four, so she may only appear in a limited number of episodes.  Tesfai also had a recurring role as Nadine Hansan on The CW’s ‘Jane the Virgin’.  She has also appeared on the superhero series ‘Powers’ on the Playstation Network, as well as on ‘Silicon Valley’, ‘Superstore’, ‘The Real O’Neals’, and ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’.  Her first major role was as Cherry Milton on the telenovela ‘Wicked, Wicked Games’.  She will appear on the upcoming Netflix series ‘The Kominsky Method’ which stars Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin, as well as in the upcoming horror movie ‘Hag’.

‘Supergirl”s fourth season kicked off on the 14th.  It appears that Tesfai will make her debut on the eighth episode of this season.
