Hawkeye Kevin Smith

Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye was noticeably absent from ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ which has put him front and center as a topic for Marvel fans. However, not everyone loves the archer who can hit anything as Kevin Smith recently weighed in on the idea of the hero getting his own TV show. To put it bluntly, he is not a fan of this idea.

Here is what he had to say on the matter:

“Oh, God, come on. Didn’t they take like…Remember in the middle of Age of Ultron, they showed us a whole episode of The Hawkeye Show, and nobody wanted to watch it? We all tried to change the channel, but it was a movie, so we had to sit through it and shit. Yeah, the Hawkeye show I’d be interested in is like, [in the] opening episode he gets killed, and we spend the rest of the episodes with everyone going, ‘He was a pretty good guy.’ And then they go on some adventure and shit like that.”

Now, this was just said in jest as we haven’t seen the character or his abilities be nearly as well realized as any of the core Avengers. While Clint Barton, as he stands now, likely wouldn’t be the most interesting of heroes to follow, if you ended up delving into his world as a spy for S.H.I.E.L.D. or perhaps solo adventures based on the work by Matt Fraction in 2012 and you’d likely have a tale that audiences would enjoy following. However, getting the current married iteration of the character over to how he was in the comics at that point might take a bit of work.

Would you be interested in an ongoing television series about ‘Hawkeye’ as he currently stands in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Are there any runs on the character that you think were made to be adapted into an ongoing show? Share your thoughts in the comments below, True Believers!
