Previously Fox has given us a few preview images of other cast members for their upcoming Batman themed television show ‘Gotham’ and now they are giving us the central character of the show, Ben McKenzie’s (‘The O.C.’,’88 Minutes’) Detective James Gordon. With already seeing Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle as well as both Robin Lord Taylor as The Penguin and Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth we are finally getting a shot of the central character of the show. The man who will be Commissioner Gordon that will put his life and career on the line to work with Batman in cleaning up Gotham City.
So what exactly does Gordon look like in the new series?
We are clearly seeing a much younger Gordon here as he he is starting out as a detective with a long way to rise to be Commissioner. This is prior to the glasses and mustache he is long known for and you almost have to wonder if they will show up in the series. Will his eyes start to go and will he have a reason to grow the ‘stache? It could be a good lead out to his at some point ex-wife or a lead in to his future wife that are both cast for the show.
What do you think about the look of Gotham’s finest? Does McKenzie seem like the man who will become a hardened police officer who believes in a high moral ground?
Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world’s greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon’s story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the multiple layers of corruption that secretly ruled Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world’s most iconic villains? And what circumstances created them – the larger-than-life personas who would become Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and The Joker?
GOTHAM is an origin story of the great DC Comics super villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”), GOTHAM follows one cop’s rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time.
