Andrew Lincoln might have one foot out the door but Norman Reedus has no plans on leaving ‘The Walking Dead‘ anytime soon. In fact, the actor has shared that he would love to bookend the series and be in at both the beginning and at the end. This is probably great news for fans who have recently seen Chandler Riggs’s character killed off, Lennie James leaving for ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ and both Lincoln and Lauren Cohan leaving the series in the first half of Season 9.

While we know that Lincoln will be gone for good outside of returning to direct, Cohan is leaving in a way in which she could come back. I’m sure fans would get a kick out of this all being an elaborate setup which sees both actors returning in Season 10 with neither actually being killed off. That being said, Reedus has expressed desire to stay until the very last episode:

“You know, I started on Season 1 of the show, and I’d love to bookend it. I put so much effort into this. For me to walk away now would just seem so cowardly. It’s a fight every day, in a million different ways. But it’s a fight that I’ve been invested in. My family’s here; I like my life here. I like riding my motorcycle through the country to work. I’ve been in New York a long, long time, and now every time I go back to New York, I just wanna go back to Georgia.”

While his love for Georgia is obvious, this could also be taken as a jab at Lincoln. The two are close friends but seem to enjoy harassing one another whenever the opportunity arrives. Of course, as ‘The Walking Dead’ franchise expands we could even see it possible that Daryl Dixon doesn’t stop being a character if the show were to end:

“I just want to tell honest stories. And I think sometimes; this show’s a huge show. The scripts are this long, and you have this many days to shoot them, and it’s work. It’s tough. We shoot scenes on this show in an hour that if you were on a movie would take four days to shoot. You have that luxury on a film … I would like to slow the pace entirely. Don’t rush me; I’d like a tiny script and stretch it out. I think that would be fun and honest. So, yeah, if it was like that.”

So an “honest” ‘The Walking Dead’ movie could see Reedus as the star if it were ever to happen.

Do you hope that Daryl Dixon survives until the very end of ‘The Walking Dead’? Is he talking about himself or Andrew Lincoln when stating that “to walk away now would just seem so cowardly”? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
