Titans

Ready for another clip from ‘Titans’?  The latest release focuses on Robin (played by Brenton Thwaites).  After his parents are killed during an extortion scheme, Dick Grayson dedicates his life to battling crime, under the tutelage of Batman, Bruce Wayne.  It is his trouble overcoming that shadow that will play a major part on ‘Titans’.  As he states in this clip:

“He was a hero to me. I admired him at first. But I had to walk away.  I was becoming too much like him.”

We do know that the mantle of Robin will be passed down from Dick to Jason Todd.  In the comics, Jason was killed by The Joker, but it’s not clear how ‘Titans’ will depict him.  At any rate, Curran Walters portrays Jason Todd, the second Robin.

Thwaites said:

“It’s a show that isn’t about Batman, and I think it’s important for people to know that and maybe not be disappointed that they’re not going to see Batman jumping from the ceiling and beating up a hundred guys, because it’s not Batman, it’s a story about the Titans, essentially. I feel like ‘F— Batman’ says that in two words.”

F*** Batman indeed.  For those of us that love DC Comics but don’t see the bizarre appeal of emotionally distant Batman, this might be the answer.  (Seriously… why does anyone like that guy?  You didn’t have a bad enough relationship with your actual dad?)

The ‘Titans’ TV series will premiere on the big screen at New York Comic-Con on October 3rd.  After that, it will be available on the DC Universe streaming service on Friday, October 12th.  DC Universe will release one episode a week on Friday.  The series also stars Anna Diop, Teagan Croft, and Ryan Potter.

Once again, ‘Titans’ will be available on DC Universe on October 12th.
