Christopher McQuarrie

Christopher McQuarrie (‘Jack Reacher’,’The Way of the Gun’) is fresh off of directing the last two ‘Mission: Impossible’ movies and would love to take a crack at the “Star Trek” franchise. Both ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ and ‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’ were hits at the box office and the man knows how to bring us a solid action movie, at least a solid action movie which stars Tom Cruise.

The director was recently at a Q&A session with fans for an IMAX screening of ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ and one of his fans asked if he’d be interested in tackling a ‘Star Trek’ movie. While we don’t have his direct answer, it was parapgrahsed by a certain comic superstar and ‘Deadpool’ co-creator Rob Liefeld:

As Paramount Pictures is responsible for both the “Mission: Impossible” and “Star Trek” franchises this might be something that could feasibly happen. While SJ Clarkson is slated to direct “Star Trek 4” there is also a potential Quentin Tarantino film in the works and whatever other movie ideas that the studio can get together before the actors move on and the franchise has to be once again rebooted.

Liefeld also shared a photo where he was able to meet with McQuarrie, and it makes me feel, for the comic fans out there, that whoever was taking this really should have cropped off the feet of these two.

Would you want to see Christopher McQuarrie direct a “Star Trek” movie? Do you feel that he could inject the right kind of morality and sense of exploration in with the action that the Kelvin timeline films could use? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
