Universal Studios theme park in Orlando is busy getting ready for their huge Hollywood Horror Nights event. At the same time, the park is always looking toward the future, and recently announced big changes to the ‘Harry Potter’ sections of the park.

One piece of news will be as exciting as getting your favorite flavor of Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans! The other, well, is not so great. The good news is that Universal Studios Orlando is definitely working on a new thrill ride in one of the ‘Potter’ sections of its parks. However, the new development will have an effect on a popular ‘Harry Potter’ event.

The ‘Wizarding World of Harry Potter’ park opened in Orlando in 2010, and since then there have been a number of improvements and additions. So far, very few details have been released about the new ride; however, it is known that the ride will reside in the Islands of Adventure Park and is reported to be a coaster. More good news, the AP has reported that the ride won’t be the only new attraction that will be ‘Harry Potter’ themed coming to the parks!

Okay, I have put off the bad news long enough. Those who have attended the annual celebration of ‘Harry Potter’ held at the park will be out of luck next year. Universal Studios announced that ‘A Celebration of Harry Potter’ will not be happening at all in 2019, a casualty of the renovation process. The event has been happening for five years, lasting three days and was covered by the price of admission, which is huge because those tickets aren’t cheap. The event has been a huge draw, even bringing celebs from the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise to join in the fun.

Those familiar with the Universal Parks know that there is more change on the horizon. The Hollywood based park recently shut down their ‘Jurassic Park’ in preparation of their huge ‘Jurassic World’ remodel. A ride based on the ‘Terminator 2’ film also bit the dust and will be replaced.
