Walking Dead

While we are weeks away from the premiere of Season 9 of ‘The Walking Dead,’ AMC has released several photos from the season, which will serve as the first for new showrunner Angela Kang. Fans of the show know that this season will be the last for frontman Rick Grimes, as Andrew Lincoln confirmed his exit at San Diego Comic-Con this summer. Lincoln addressed fans, saying:

“This will be my last season playing the part of Rick Grimes. I’m really, really excited about this season. No one is bigger than the story, and the story this year is unbelievable.”

Don’t fret just yet, Rick fans. Almost every photo from the upcoming season features our main man in some way, so it seems he won’t be going quietly. Check out the new photos from Season 9 below!

The first photo features our first look at Carol (Melissa McBride) and Ezekiel (Khary Payton) sas a couple! Fans have lovingly termed their union “Carzekiel.”

Eugene (Josh McDermitt), Carol, Ezekiel, and Rick are pictured at the New Sanctuary.

Michonne (Danai Gurira) is here too, looking badass as always.

Ezekiel, Carol, Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) gather in what looks like a museum.

Maggie stands her ground at Hilltop.

Daryl, Michonne, and Rick are just chilling. Actually, they’re probably talking about something serious and scary, as per usual.

Oh! It looks like they’re going to re-enact the Oregon Trail! I hope no one dies of dysentery.

Ezekiel and Jerry (Cooper Andrews) ride into the Sanctuary.

Rosita (Christian Serratos) is shown spray painting a mysterious B on a sign.

Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) shows the long-term effect of his eye injury. Will he be as annoying in season 9? Time will tell.

Daryl is just standing there doing nothing but radiates perfection. Not much has changed.

Rick and Michonne lead the group somewhere.

Once again, we have Daryl looking handsome. This time behind some wheat.

Michonne is shown on a horse again for the first time since season 4.

Don’t miss ‘The Walking Dead’ season 9, which premieres October 7 on AMC!
