Ben Affleck

Rumors have been swirling that Ben Affleck wouldn’t be starring in ‘The Batman‘ for quite some time and now we’ve learned he is still attached to the film but as a producer. The movie is slated to go into production in the Spring of 2019, and it still isn’t clear who will be wearing the cape and cowl.

Ever since ‘Justice League’ flopped with critics and the box office for what Warner Brothers had expected the movie to make, their interest in Affleck continuing playing the Caped Crusader has been uncertain. Not only that, but there have been conflicting reports as to his own interest in returning to the franchise as an actor.

Mix in the fact that we’ve been hearing that director Matt Reeves is looking to tell the story of a younger Bruce Wayne in ‘The Batman’ and that seems like Affleck wouldn’t necessarily be a good fit here. Unless, of course, they used some of that anti-aging technology that we’ve seen Disney incorporating in their Marvel and Star Wars films.

Even if this is a flashback to Batman’s younger years, Affleck could still be included in bookends to the movie where we’re shown that he is narrating the story to someone else.

While the listing on Production Weekly has Affleck as a producer on the film, at the time of posting there was no cast listed for the movie. We’ve been told that Affleck’s take on Batman already has multiple decades of protecting Gotham by the time we met him in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ so there is plenty of room for previous stories to be told while still keeping Affleck’s character in the modern films.

Do you think we’ll see Ben Affleck become Batman on the big screen again? Will this movie use anti-aging technology or cast another actor to play a younger Caped Crusader in ‘The Batman’? Share your thoughts below!
