‘Star Trek’ fans recently received an exciting piece of news: that Patrick Stewart will reprise his role as Jean-Luc Picard for an all-new ‘Star Trek’ series coming to CBS All Access. The announcement left many fans wondering what other OG ‘Trek’ players would be returning.

Well, fans can wonder no more. The team in charge of CBS All Access sat down for a recent interview, and when asked if any other ‘Star Trek’ revivals were in the works, the response from CBS TV Studios president David Stapf was a hard and fast, “No.”

The interviewer pressed Stapf, asking if it would be a “definite no” on the idea of William Shatner returning to play James Kirk. Stapf replied:

“I would say, never say never.”

While Shatner may not need to dust off his communicator quite yet, he did take to Twitter to congratulate Stewart, saying:

“It’s wonderful news! Congratulations my friend!”

Stewart shared his thoughts about the return during the official announcement onstage at the ‘Star Trek’ Las Vegas convention. He said:

“I will always be very proud to have been a part of ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation,’ but when we wrapped that final movie in the spring of 2002, I truly felt my time with ‘Star Trek’ had run its natural course. IIt is, therefore, an unexpected but delightful surprise to find myself excited and invigorated to be returning to Jean-Luc Picard and to explore new dimensions within him. Seeking out new life for him, when I thought that life was over.”

He continued, saying:

“During these past years, it has been humbling to hear many stories about how ‘The Next Generation’ brought people comfort, saw them through difficult periods in their lives or how the example of Jean-Luc inspired so many to follow in his footsteps, pursuing science, exploration and leadership. I feel I’m ready to return to him for the same reason – to research and experience what comforting and reforming light he might shine on these often very dark times. I look forward to working with our brilliant creative team as we endeavor to bring a fresh, unexpected and pertinent story to life once more.”
