The voice cast is getting stronger for ‘Marvel Rising: Initiation’ as both Tara Strong (‘Batman: The Killing Joke‘,’The Powerpuff Girls’) and Skai Jackson (‘Bunk’d’,’Ultimate Spider-Man’) will be lending their voices, and vocals, to the show. Both actresses have had experience with voice work before though while Jackson has worked with Marvel, Strong is known for her DC work.
In the series, Strong will be voicing Mary Jane Watson while Jackson will be handling Glory Grant. For those familiar with the life and times of Spider-Gwen, it is an easy guess as to how these two will be involved. In the comics, Dove Cameron’s Gwen Stacy is a member of an all-girl band, and these are the other members of the Emm-Jays.
In the universe which this Spider-powered hero comes from, we see that Mary Jane Watson is the “singer/songwriter/lead guitarist and one of Gwen Stacy’s bandmates in the Emm-Jays.” For Gloria “Glory” Grant, she’ll be Gwen’s “best friend and the Emm-Jay’s keyboard player.”
While not Spider-Gwen in the show, we’ll see this Gwen go by Ghost-Spider and she will be the center of the series and also “on the run from authorities, who believe she is responsible for her best friend’s murder. Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl, Quake and Patriot are all tasked with apprehending Ghost-Spider and bringing her in for questioning.”
There are hints from the comic that she’s inspired from here but a few new twists as well.
