Marvel’s ‘Ant-man and the Wasp’ has officially opened in theaters, and many scenes have fans talking. One of those is the kitchen fight led by Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) as the Wasp. ‘Ant-Man’ director Peyton Reed gave a video interview with Vanity Fair where he breaks down the iconic scene shot by shot!

During the scene in question, Hope and her father Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) are in hiding from the FBI after creating the Ant-Man suit that Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) used to aid Captain America in ‘Captain America: Civil War.’ The two have purchased parts to build a tunnel to the quantum realm from black market dealers. Right before the fight takes place, Hope meets with dealer Sonny Burch (Walton Goggins), who reveals he knows Hope has been using a fake identity. As you can imagine, he isn’t pleased and refuses to sell Hope the last part they need and decides to take her money for his troubles. Cue the kitchen fight!

In the video, Reed explains that Hope’s suit has gauntlets on each hand that shoot shrink and grow discs. We see the full potential of these discs as Hope uses a grow disc to make a salt shaker grow to stop Burch’s henchmen from escaping.

You can check out the video below, where Reed also gets into some of the scene’s effects and processes such as how they filmed a tiny version of Evangeline Lilly running on a knife.

‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ are now available to watch in theaters. Future MCU films coming to theaters are ‘Captain Marvel’ on March 8, 2019, ‘Avengers 4’ on May 3, 2019, the sequel to ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ on July 5th, 2019, and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ in 2020.
