A brand new trailer for George R. R. Martin’s ‘Nightflyers’ has been released…and it is creepy! The upcoming Syfy series is based on the novella written by Martin before fans were given the epic ‘Song of Ice and Fire’ book series. Set in a world completely opposite of the kingdoms of Westeros, ‘Nightflyers’ took readers into the vast unknown vacuum of space.
The novella, published in 1980, features the crew of a ship that sets off on a mission in hopes to make contact with an alien race. Instead, the crew finds themselves the victims of a mysterious entity. The TV adaptation of ‘Nightflyers’ comes to Syfy as an 8-episode series, and the new trailer gives fans the message that the creepiness factor of the haunted ship has not gone down over time!
While the trailer is careful to not give away any major plot points, it does not skimp on the imagery. The clip is titled ‘Skye,’ and finds the crew being terrorized by Skye D’Branin (Bronte Carmichael) who recites a frightening incantation while unleashing what looks like holy hell upon the crew and their ship.
The trailer also features the statement, “From the mind of George R.R. Martin” across the screen, no doubt to get fans even more amped about seeing new material from the genius behind ‘Game of Thrones.’ Syfy no doubt is hoping to ride the coattails of the massive success HBO has seen with GoT.
From what we’ve seen so far from the ‘Nightflyers’ marketing, fans should not expect many details regarding the plot until the show premieres this fall. Although, fans may be given a few teasers when Syfy features ‘Nightflyers’ at San Diego Comic Con, along with their other shows ‘Krypton’ and ‘Deadly Class.’
