Walking Dead

Just as ‘The Walking Dead’ comic had a time jump after “All Out War,” we’ve just gotten confirmation that one will happen on AMC’s hit as well. With this next season sounding to be the last time we’ll be seeing Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, it would only make sense that they’d send him off after showing that he had been responsible for at least partially rebuilding society.

In the comics, the time jump shows us a fully built Alexandria and neighboring communities who are working together for a greater good. Not only that, but Negan is shown to still be alive and in jail where he has talked himself into believing what Grimes is doing even if no one trusts him.

Confirmation of the time jump came directly from the new showrunner Angela Kang who spoke at a “Kick-Ass Women of AMC” panel this last Wednesday where she stated:

“We’re playing with time in the season, so we get to jump forward in the story. We’re working on a season that has a really fresh look and feel. We come in on some pretty fun stuff. I’m really focusing a lot on the core character relationships in the show that have kind of been long-lasting, as well as all of our wonderful series regulars. For people who are really invested in Michonne, Maggie or Carol, there’s such great material for them. For people who are looking for that specifically, they will see some really incredible work from our women.”

We know Rick is supposedly on his way out and Lauren Cohan attached to a new ABC show, ‘Whiskey Cavalier,’ it will be interesting to see how much of Maggie we’ll actually be able to see over the next season.

Are you glad to hear that we’ll be getting a time jump for the ninth season of ‘The Walking Dead’? Were you hoping that the writers would explore new territory and stories or follow the comics as they’re doing? Share your thoughts below!
