Blumhouse Productions has had a runaway hit with ‘The Purge’ series and now the studio is releasing a new poster for ‘The First Purge.’ This film is set to showcase the events which happened to start the entire franchise of ‘The Purge,’ ‘The Purge: Anarchy,’ and ‘The Purge: Election Year’ and will still be written by James DeMonaco though this outing is being directed by Gerard McMurray (‘Burning Sands’).

The cast includes Y’Lan Noel, Lex Scott Davis, Joivan Wade, Luna Lauren Velez, and Marisa Tomei and one would expect to see more of Tomei’s character showing up in promotional material soon.

While we know this will end up showing us how the New Founding Fathers of America are going to get their way and start yearly purges, it isn’t clear quite yet if this will dive into characters who we’ve already seen in the films or brand new ones. It’d be interesting if they pulled a twist on us that threw everything we knew about the series so far on its head but we’ve got a month until we can find that out.

You can check out the latest poster that shares off some of those participating in ‘The First Purge’ right here:

While the two background characters are just rocking face masks with hoodies on, I love the devilish look that they’ve stuck front and center here. I’m curious as to if the film will somehow directly tie into the upcoming television series at all.

What do you think of the latest poster for ‘The First Purge’? Which of these masked characters do you feel will stand out the most in the upcoming film? Share your thoughts below!

Synopsis:

“To push the crime rate below one percent for the rest of the year, the New Founding Fathers of
America (NFFA) test a sociological theory that vents aggression for one night in one isolated
community. But when the violence of oppressors meets the rage of the marginalized, the contagion
will explode from the trial-city borders and spread across the nation.”

‘The First Purge’ will spread across America on July 4th, 2018!
