Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

We’ve already told that there would be a new line-up of heroes by the end of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3‘ and now we’ve learned that director James Gunn is stressing that the film will be “very different.” With ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ having already gotten rid of most of the Guardians of the Galaxy we’re all pretty sure that ‘Avengers 4’ (whose full title is being kept a secret) will bring back many, if not all of our heroes. However, their fight with Thanos and whatever happens in the next film will not leave this family unscathed, and now Gunn is hinting that there will be even more in store for audiences.

Even with the elements of action and danger, the first two films have been very lighthearted, and with what Peter Quill and his friends are going through now it seems that the tone itself might be shifting. Rumored to have a May of 2020 Marvel Studios release spot, we’re not even sure when the next outing is officially scheduled to be released quite yet.

If it were to come out before ‘Avengers 4’, the entire crew would currently only consist of Rocket Raccoon and Nebula, but Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff, and Dave Bautista have all confirmed that they’ll be back as Star-Lord, Mantis, and Drax the Destroyer respectively in the upcoming movies.

While Gunn won’t tease what we can expect, he did post on Facebook:

“It’s very, very, very different. Very different, but I won’t say how! You’ll have to wait to see the movie; it’s a long time away.”

We’re still not sure if Gamora or Groot will be back for the next outing and while I suspect the latter will be, if they choose not to have Gamora return, that alone could change the entire dynamic of the film.

For those hoping that something “very different” could mean the inclusion of some of Fox’s cosmic characters, Gunn did say that was “not gonna happen in any major way. Too far along” – as in they are already too far into the script to make this happen. If the Disney and Fox deal does go through, a few namedrops or background cameos could quite likely happen to set up future ideas.

Are you looking forward to how the still untitled ‘Avengers 4’ will tie into ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3’? What do you think James Gunn means by saying that the film is “very different”?
