Mckenna Grace’s role in Marvel Studios’ ‘Captain Marvel’ has been revealed and it’s a pretty major one.  She is playing the title character, Carol Danvers, as a girl.  Of course, Brie Larson is playing Danvers as an adult.  Grace is expected to share most of her scenes with Kenneth Mitchell, who is playing her father, Joseph Danvers.  In addition, Ana Ayora has joined the cast in an undisclosed role.

Even at her young age, Grace has an extensive resumé.  She played a young Tonya Harding in the Academy Award-nominated film ‘I, Tonya’.  She also played young Emma Swann on ‘Once Upon A Time’.  She has also acted on the TV shows ‘The Young and the Restless’, ‘CSI: Cyber’, ‘Fuller House’ and ‘Designated Survivor’ and in the movies ‘Ready Player One’, ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ and ‘Amityville: The Awakening’.

‘Captain Marvel’ is currently shooting in the Los Angeles area, but will change locations to New Orleans this summer.  The film is being directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.  In addition to Larson, Grace, Mitchell and Ayora, the cast includes Jude Law as Walter Lawson/Mar-Vell, Ben Mendelsohn as Yon-Rog, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer and Annette Bening as Carol’s mother.  Also appearing are Colin Ford, Robert Kazinsky, Vik Sahay, Rune Temte, Lashana Lynch and Algenis Perez Soto.

‘Captain Marvel’ is due in theaters on March 16, 2019.  Carol Danvers will also be back in ‘Avengers 4’ on May 5, 2019.
