Marvel-Studios-Eternals

We’ve been hearing rumors that Marvel Studios was planning on introducing the ‘Eternals‘ and now the studio has a pair of writers in mind for the film. While fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are still dealing with ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and eagerly awaiting the untitled ‘Avengers 4,’ it sounds like a new set of heroes are going to be introduced, and they could even come from the second film. According to sourcees, Matthew and Ryan Firpo are going to be working on the initial script to bringing this franchise to the big screen.

If the names of these writers aren’t familiar, the duo is still new but have gotten quite a bit of attention when their most recent work ‘Ruin’ ended up on the 2017 Black List.

The Eternals are a fitting addition of characters to be brought into the MCU with the continued success of the cosmic tales which began under the guiding hand of James Gunn. When the Celestials experimented on humanity millions of years ago, they ended up creating two offshoot races which are known as the Eternals and the Deviants, and both have factored into larger stories over the years. The two races have been at war since the dawn of humankind.

While not one of Jack Kirby’s most famous creations, these characters were a featured staple in the earlier days of the cosmic side of Marvel comics. One important side note is that the Eternals were the race Thanos was a member of who, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ended up wiping themselves out from overpopulation and a lack of resources. It could prove interesting to see if ‘Avengers 4’ could somehow lead to the undoing of the destruction of their civilization or if this is a pocket set of the population who have been living elsewhere all these years.

Kevin Feige recently mentioned that the Eternals were “one of many many many things that [they] are actively beginning to have creative discussions about” and it sounds like these discussions might have evolved into a pre-production plan.
