We’ve known that the reboot of Todd McFarlane’s ‘Spawn’ has landed at Blumhouse though details have been scare since that announcement. With the announced 2019 release date still in mind, it looks as if its time to round up some actors as casting director Terri Taylor (‘Get Out’) has been putting out some feelers for filling the shoes of some of these characters.
The proposed production date is in August, and now it looks like the first significant role has been offered to Jamie Foxx. While the new series is set to focus on the detectives in Spawn’s city, Foxx is being offered the part of Al Simmons, better known to us as Spawn. This is a potential multi-film commitment though, from what we’ve heard. Spawn will mostly be in the shadows for this film which would allow for the actor to potentially primarily be needing to do voice work.
On the flipside, this isn’t going to be a superhero movie in the classic sense of the genre which could either entice of turn Foxx away for the part.
It could be fun to see Foxx take on this darker role though with the focus being primarily on Twitch, it might not be a part he is keen to jump into. Of course, we aren’t even being introduced to Twitch’s infamous partner Sam in this outing so it is a mystery as to what direction things will be running until we see at least a trailer.
