This is extremely exciting news for fans of ‘Swamp Thing‘ as DC is bringing us a new series! It will debut on their new ‘DC Universe’ streaming service as a one-hour series, much like ‘Titans” live-action show. Based on Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson iconic character, we know that Mark Verheiden (‘Constantine’,’Daredevil’) is working with Gary Dauberman (‘It’) as showrunners who will also be writing the Tscript.

Quite possibly the most exciting news is that James Wan, who is directing the upcoming ‘Aquaman‘ for Warner Bros., is going to be on board as an Executive Producer. This is the perfect way to blend his love of horror and DC comics to deliver a series that many fans didn’t even know they wanted but will now likely be dying to see.

Here’s how the series is being described:

“The drama follows what happens when CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus. There, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.”

This is a pretty true-to-character description and will likely outperform both the 1982 Wes Craven film about the character as well as the 90’s cartoon. The talent attached has me excited without even any actor announcements!
