Randall Park is crossing the line.  The ‘Fresh Off The Boat’ actor will appear in two superhero movies this year– one from Marvel and one from DC.  First, in July, he will appear as Jimmy Woo in Marvel Studios’ ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’.  Then, in December, he will Red Rover over to Warner Brothers’ ‘Aquaman’ to appear as Dr. Stephen Shin.

Dr. Shin is a rather new addition to Aquaman’s mythos, having been introduced in 2011 during DC Comics’ New 52 relaunch.  He is an oceanographer who helped young Arthur Curry to understand his amphibious abilities, but when an older Aquaman refused to tell Shin the location of Atlantis, Shin tried to kill him.  During the attack of the Trench creatures, he once again assisted Aquaman, but once more they clashed when Arthur refused to let Shin have a Trench cadaver to study.

Dr. Shin appeared in animated form in the movie ‘Justice League: Throne of Atlantis’.  Matthew Yang King provided his voice.

Park’s crossing over between the films of two rival publishers follows a similar action by Michael Keaton, who portrayed ‘Batman’ in the 1989 classic.  Last year he appeared in Sony/Marvel’s ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ as the villain The Vulture.

‘Aquaman’ director James Wan posted a picture of himself with Park, with the hashtag #drshin.

You can catch Park as Jimmy Woo in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ on July 6, 2018.  That film was directed by Peyton Reed and also stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Hannah John-Kamen, Michael Peña, Laurence Fishburn, T.I., Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer.

On December 21, 2019, you can see Park as Dr. Stephen Shin in ‘Aquaman’, which was directed by James Wan and stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Willem Dafoe, Dolph Lundgren, Temuera Morrison and Nicole Kidman.
