“Strange things are afoot at the Circle K” as the cast and crew of ‘Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventures’ get back together and talk a potential third movie! We’ve previously heard about a possible third outing to finish the story first told in the 1989 hit ‘Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure,’ and while nothing is set in stone, it sounds like everyone involved is ready to go. The details came out when original actors Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter met with writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon to talk about what they have in mind.

The actors have stayed in touch over the years and during this meeting we all learned from Reeves that “Chris and Ed came to us in 2007 with the idea of doing it. They pitched us an idea. It sounded great.”

Whoa. We already had the potential script in 2007 so what happened?

Reeves explained that “In show business, There’s show and then there’s business.”

As to how close the business end of things has actually gotten the movie, Solomon shared that “We’ve been to the altar a few times, We get rejected right about the ‘now you may kiss the bride’ part of it.”

The writing duo enjoyed the idea so much and we so passionate about it that they had written the script on spec. For those of you not in the know, Winter joked that “Spec’ means ‘for free’ for all you folks in Toledo, Ohio, who don’t read all the entertainment blogs.”

Solomon shared that the reason they went this direction for writing the film which they now have to find themselves pitching is that:

“We wanted to get it right. We wanted to have it be something that we — all four of us, Chris and I, Alex and Keanu — could stand behind, and know we’re doing this for the right reasons.”

Now though is what you’re dying to know – what is the movie all about? Tentatively named ‘Bill & Ted Face the Music’ the story “finds our intrepid explorers still struggling to complete the great work of their life. At the end of Excellent Adventure, futuristic mentor Rufus (George Carlin) told the teens that they would write music that would turn the world into a utopia. “You’re told you’re gonna save the world,” Matheson says. “And now you’re 50, and you haven’t done it. Now they’re married, and it affects their marriages, and it affects their relationships with their kids, and it affects their everything.”

Reeves added in that “Everybody’s a little older now. A little afraid.”

Solomon expanded on the idea that he thinks “it’s kind of like A Christmas Carol with Bill and Ted. Looking at their lives, and really kind of rediscovering what they’re about.”

Winter says that Dean Parisot (‘Galaxy Quest‘) is willing to direct the film and Solomon shared that “Hopefully within the next month or so, we’ll have news that will stick.”

We’re all hoping that in the next month we’ll be able to share with you some solid production news.

Would you be thrilled to see a third ‘Bill & Ted’ movie after all this time? What do you think about the few details which have been revealed so far? Be excellent to each other and share your thoughts in the comments below!
