buffy the vampire slayer joss whedon

Sorry folks, we’re not seeing Joss Whedon bringing ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ back as a new series or movie. What he will be up to, though, is working on ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 12: The Reckoning’ which is the latest comic in the Buffyverse from Dark Horse Comics.

Whedon is set to pen the issue with Christos Gage who has tackled the comics for years and Georges Jeanty illustrating the story.

Whedon has previously helped with the comic series with his last input being ‘Buffy: Season Nine’ back in 2011. Gage himself has just finished up ‘Buffy: Season 11’ while Jeanty is returning for the first time to be the main illustrator since ‘Buffy: Season 8’.

When the new season starts, we see Buffy and her friends having had an easy year off from tackling evil! Not what you’d normally expect to see happen.

Things aren’t going to stay quiet for long though as Xander and Dawn have a housewarming party that goes wrong pretty quick. Wolfram Hart, a vampire from the future named Harth, and a slew of demons have decided to crash the party, and the first significant consequence appears to see Buffy thrown into a time warp which will threaten everything Buffy holds dear!

As we’re dipping into the future, comic fans will be thrilled that Slayer Fray will be making an appearance as well. Not only that, but Faith, Angel, and Illyria will all be returning as well. At this time we don’t know if they’ll end up as friend or foe.

Are you excited that Joss Whedon will be collaborating on a ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ project again? Do you wish he could find a way to bring back the series itself or has the show run its course? Share your thoughts below!

‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 12: The Reckoning’ #1 will be available in your local comic shops on June 20th, 2018!
