‘Narcos’ star Bruno Bichir has been added to the cast of ‘Titans’ as a figure from Beast Boy’s past, Doctor Niles Caulder also known as The Chief, the wheelchair-bound leader of the Doom Patrol. A brilliant scientist, Caulder travels the world to find those on the edge of death in need of his special expertise. In the comics, the Doom Patrol were all seemingly killed when they sacrificed themselves to save a small fishing village. The team also included Rita Farr/Elasti-Girl, the adoptive mother of Beast-Boy. So it remains to be seen just how large a role Caulder and the other Doom Patrol members will play or if they will just pop up in flashbacks to Beast-Boy’s childhood. It is known that they will appear in the show’s fifth episode, which is entitled ‘The Doom Patrol’. The episode was penned by Geoff Johns.
Speaking of Beast-Boy/Garfield Logan, Ryan Potter will portray him on the series, with Brenton Thwaites as Robin/Dick Grayson, Teagan Croft as Raven/Rachel Roth and Anna Diop as Starfire/Koriand’r. Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly will guest star as Hawk and Dove.
In addition to Netflix’s ‘Narcos’, Bichir also recently starred in the miniseries ‘Absentia’ and before that on the series ‘Dressed for Mourning’. He has a role in the upcoming film ‘Sicario 2: Soldado’. In addition, he provided the voice of Toto in the animated film ‘Una Película de Huevos’ and its subsequent sequels.
‘Titans’ will be produced by Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter and Warner Bros TV. It will stream on the upcoming DC Comics-based service, which has not yet been named. There also is no release date announced, although ‘Titans’ has begun filming. Most likely, it will arrive in the fourth quarter. ‘Titans’ will be joined by two animated series ‘Young Justice: Outsiders’ and ‘Harley Quinn’.
