Maise Williams Game Of Thrones

Fans have been reeling over the rumors, and months later, confirmation that the final season of ‘Game of Thrones’ would not be premiering until 2019, meaning an agonizing wait through all of 2018 to find out how it is all going to end for our favorite characters on Westeros, and learn who at long last will finally get to sit on that damn Iron Throne. Of course, the new question now is WHEN exactly in 2019 the show will come back, but thanks to one of the stars of the show, we may already have the answer to that one.

While speaking to the UK paper ‘Metro,‘ Maisie Williams stated:

“We wrap in December and we air our first episode in April [2019]. That’s a four-month turnaround for these huge episodes. There’s a lot that goes into the final edit. You would not want to rush this season at all. We owe it to our audience and our fans to really do this final season to the best of our abilities.”

Of course, her expectation about wrapping in December is very different than what we had previously heard about the show wrapping at the end of summer 2018, so there is a chance Maisie might not be entirely in the know in regards to this particular topic, or it could be she could know better than all of us! But she does have a point. If ‘Game of Thrones’ does finish shooting in December, 4 months is not at all a lot of post-production time, and I would hope after all this time, that they wouldn’t then rush the special effects and editing just to hit an April deadline. As for her own character, Maisie has her own thoughts on her hopes for the end of Arya’s journey on the show:

“I would love for Arya to find her true self again and let go of this anger and revenge that’s accompanied her on this journey. I’d love for her to be happy.”

What would you think about the final season of ‘Game of Thrones’ premiering in its original premiere month of April one last time? Can we trust what Maisie is telling us? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
