Legends of Tomorrow

‘Legends of Tomorrow’ is set to return to The CW in just a few weeks, on a new night and time– Mondays at 8pm EST, ‘Supergirl’s regular time slot.  The two shows will alternate that time slot, since ‘Black Lightning’ has taken over ‘Legends” old post-‘Flash’ slot on Tuesday nights.  And just like the time slot, the contents of the show will be mixing things up as usual, but some things will remain the same, including Mick Rory’s cantankerous mood.

We already knew that Matt Ryan’s fan favorite character John Constantine, last seen on ‘Arrow’ Season Four, would return and join the crew of the Waverider.  Now it appears that sparks will fly between the infamously bisexual mystic and one of the Legends and it will be “too much” for Rory.  Dominic Purcell discusses the arrival of the man he refers to as “Trenchcoat” and his connection to Rory’s onetime partner Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller).

“Well, Trenchcoat has just arrived and I’ve only had one scene with him, and that was last week.  He was hitting on Wentworth’s character. Isn’t Constantine bisexual? And it was all too much for Rory, so he just kind of walked out.”

”What’s Wentworth’s character now? It’s not Captain Cold… Citizen Cold! So Citizen Cold is different [from] Captain Cold. Completely different.  Rory watching Citizen Cold and Trenchcoat flirt with one another was like too much for Rory, so he just f****ing got out of there. That’s what I remember doing. It’s all too much! Too much information! Which makes it really funny. The scene is hysterical. We were all just on the floor laughing, so it’s all done in good fun.”

It remains to be seen how Rory will connect with the Earth-X version of Snart.  In the regular continuity, Snart died when he sacrificed his life to save his teammates and all of reality.  (A sort-of time anomaly version was later brought in.)  On Earth-X, Rory died saving a group of police officers from a fire.  Will these parallel universe versions fill a void in each others’ lives?

But the big change is that the Earth-X Snart is gay and was romantically involved with The Ray (Russell Tovey).  How serious is this flirtation between Constantine and him?  At any rate, we know it’s serious enough to creep Rory out.

Legends‘ (and the rest of the Arroweverse) has never shied away from LGBTQ storylines.  After all, the leader of the team, Sara Lance/White Canary (Caity Lotz) is openly bisexual and leans more toward same-sex romances, though she was involved for a time with Oliver Queen.  Though there have been other ongoing gay relationships, should this flirtation lead to one, it would be the first ongoing gay romance between two lead (super) characters.

Are you intrigued to see Rory deal with a gay version of his best friend?  What about the idea of an ongoing gay romance aboard the Waverider?
