AMC‘s loved the ratings of ‘The Walking Dead‘ and are now trying to switch up to straight horror with the trailer for ‘The Terror’! This 10-episode event miniseries is coming to the small screen from producer Ridley Scott (‘Alien: Covenant’) and is an actual return to horror and not another try to take a beloved franchise about Xenomorphs and turn it into an obsession about AI.
‘The Terror’ is based on a 2007 novel by Dan Simmons that has the same name. In it, we follow John Franklin’s real-life 1840s expedition to find the Northwest Passage. While no one really knows what actually happened to this lost expedition, things start off as a seemingly normal account though once they get stuck in the Arctic, things go from bad to worse. Especially, since they find that it isn’t only just the cold that they must survive but someone, or something, that lives on the ice.

Ciaran Hinds looks perfect for the part to lead this expedition while Jared Harris (‘Mad Man’) runs one of the ships for him and Tobias Menzies (‘Game of Thrones’) the other. We’ve got some top-notch acting here in the leads and I’m eager to see how this tale plays out on screen. Nive Nielsen, Paul Ready, Adam Nagaitis, Edward Ashley, Matthew McNulty, Liam Garrigan, and Ronan Raftery are also part of the cast.
Survival horror often has a problem becoming mainstream and this one looks to have enough of a different take on the sub-genre which could bring in additional viewers. If the entire show looks as good as the trailer does it could at least!
