We already know that Michelle Williams is set to play Ann Weying in ‘Venom‘ but it doesn’t sound like she’ll evolve into She-Venom, at least not yet. The role has Williams as the ex-wife of Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and in the comics, she eventually (albeit briefly) becomes bound to the symbiote herself. However, with this being an origin story that is also introducing other characters, I’m not too surprised that we’re not seeing her bond to a symbiote at this stage of the game. There is plenty of world-building left to do before that should happen.

When asked about her role in a recent interview, Williams comment on how her part in ‘Venom’ didn’t involve any special effects:

“That stuff exists in a realm that I’m not involved in. It’s in the digital realm. And I’m still a human, like, after all this time. They haven’t digitized me.”

It is always possible that Williams is trying to keep the surprise of She-Venom before the film is completed or that someone else ends up doing the motion capture for her character, but it seems unlikely at this point.

In the comics, the Venom symbiote bonds with Ann when it tries to save her life as it knows how important she is to Eddie. This slowly turns her into a villain where she attacks others. The result of her actions leaves her traumatized to the point where she takes her own life.

Early reports hinted that She-Venom could appear so either they are deviating from the storyline, she is having fun with readers, or another female symbiote is going to be making an appearance. At this point, your guess is as good as mine.

As to a hint at what Venom will look like in the film? Williams doesn’t know as it sounds like Williams’ scenes may just involve Tom Hardy as Brock:

“Look, I have no idea. That’s definitely not who I’ve been acting with for the last couple months. Like, I’m not sure who that is, but that’s not the person I’ve been doing scene work with.”

Again, it is too early to tell but it does seem like she won’t be in costume at least in this film. As Sony seems to want to put out quite a few films, leaving this as a future plot thread would be a smart idea.
