According to sources over at Omega Underground, it seems that the long-gestating ‘Boba Fett’ anthology movie might just be happening after all. As fans will remember, the movie was originally going to be helmed by Josh Trank, before rumors of his behavior on set while filming “Fant-4-stick,’ (sorry, I can’t still cannot help poking fun at the ridiculous way they presented that name) ahem, ‘Fantastic 4.’ The resulting movie’s low quality found him booted from the ‘Star Wars’ film by Lucasfilm and the ‘Boba Fett’ movie shelved for the time being, which was disappointing as the movie also had Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg (best known for all his work on the ‘X-Men’ franchise) on board as writers. But now it seems that film is being dusted off at last, and both Kasdan and Kinberg are back at work, at least according to Omega Underground. Their sources say the film is continuing either under the existing working title of ‘Tin Can’ or new working title of ‘Stannum 50 Labs’, which is a nod to the metal element “tin” and its atomic weight.
Of course, while many fans are exited about the prospect of a Fett film, there are many who worry that looking under the mask may ruin the man’s mystique, as learning his origins in George Lucas’s prequel films only hurt the character. Having an entire film revolve around a man completely covered who barely speaks would require a talented director with real vision to make work, which is why many are speculating that Taika Waititi is currently on Kathleen Kennedy’s radar, as she may be thinking the man who was able to bring the ‘Thor’ franchise back on track may be the right person for the ‘Boba Fett’ film as well and bring something fun and interesting to the project.
What are your thoughts on the matter? Do you want to see an entire movie about ‘Boba Fett?’ If so, are you hoping it is more about his origins, or like me, would you rather it be more of a “day in the life of” type of story where we can see the man fully formed and in his element, showing us why he is the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy?
