The star of one of the biggest supernatural thrillers of all time is getting back in the Spooky game.  Haley Joel “I See Dead People” Osment has been tapped to guest star in an upcoming episode of ‘The X-Files’.

The episode in question is a flashback origin story for longtime supporting character Walter Skinner, played by Mitch Pileggi.  “You’re going to find out a lot more about his past,” Pileggi disclosed at San Diego Comic-Con this past summer.  “Fans will find out who he is, where he comes from and why he is the way he is.”

There is no word on who Osment will be playing in the episode.

‘The X-Files’ is one of the most successful science fiction/supernatural shows in television history, originally running from 1993 to 2002 and spawning two theatrical films.  Last year, FOX experimented a bit by reviving the show for six episodes.  It appears those episodes were a success, as FOX has now ordered ten more to account for an eleventh season of the show.  Like last year’s six-episode run, the new episodes are set to premiere in January.

Haley Joel Osment gained notice and acclaim as a child, when at the age of ten, he co-starred with Bruce Willis in ‘The Sixth Sense’.  Osment was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for that film and won the Saturn Award for Best Young Actor.  Prior to ‘The Sixth Sense’, he played the son of Tom Hanks’ ‘Forrest Gump’.  He has also starred in the films ‘A.I. Artificial Intelligence’ and ‘Secondhand Lions’.  He has done voice work for the shows ‘The Family Guy’ and ‘American Dad!’ and the ‘Kingdom Hearts’ video game series.  Most recently, he appeared on the TV series ‘Silicon Valley’.

Who do you think Osment is playing?

‘The X-Files’ returns to FOX in January 2018.
