It seems like the new Fall Season gets pushed back later and later each year.  Once upon a time, returning favorites and new offerings tended to hit around the first of September, about the time school started.  But this year, fans of The CW shows have to wait until mid-October to get their fix.  To tide you over, the network has released a trailer for their Arrowverse shows, some of which are switching nights this year.  And while crossovers are nothing new, it looks like in addition to each year’s big event, mini-crossovers between two shows (like last year’s musical episode of ‘The Flash’ “Duet” which featured ‘Supergirl’) may become more frequent.

In the clip below, we get brief glimpses from the new installments of ‘Supergirl’, ‘The Flash’, ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ and ‘Arrow’, including an interaction between Kid Flash/Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) and Steel/Nate Heywood (Nick Zano) from ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ (seen above, from Season Two).  Will Wally pop up on ‘Legends’ or vice versa?

There’s also a surprising villain return that I don’t think anyone saw coming.

Yes, it appears that somehow Eobard Thawne, the Reverse-Flash (Matt Letscher) escaped his fate of being erased for existence.  Presumably, the bits of him that were trapped in the Speed Force will somehow break free.  The question is, on which series will this occur?  He started out on ‘The Flash’ but made his final appearances on ‘Legends’.  We have a little over a month before we find out.

As stated, there will be some shuffling in schedules this season.  Here are the dates of the season premiers and any changes:

  • Monday Oct. 12 – ‘Supergirl’ S3 stays put at Mondays at 8pm EST/PST.
  • Tuesday Oct. 13 – ‘The Flash’ S4 keeps the same time slot, 8pm EST/PST, but will now be paired with ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ S3 which is moving from Thursdays.
  • Wednesday Oct. 14 – No superheroes here.  Rather than occupying four consecutive nights, the heroes are now split up.  ‘Riverdale’ moves into ‘Arrow”s old time slot of 8pm EST/PST and is being paired with the reboot of ’80s soap opera ‘Dynasty’ at 9pm.
  • Thursday Oct. 15 – ‘Supernatural’ S13 kicks off the night at 8pm EST/PST.  Not only has ‘Arrow’ been moved from its Wednesday night roost, but it’s also being bumped back an hour to 9pm.

‘Arrow’ is entering its 6th season, which is very impressive!  Think about it.  Ten years ago, would you have believed someone if they told you that a dark prime time version of Green Arrow was going to not only happen but last six years?  But of all of the DC shows, it’s the one that has probably taken the most flack in recent years, from fans and critics.  (For reasons too numerous to get into here…)  Could Ollie and company be headed off into the sunset in the foreseeable future?  Breaking it away from the other DC shows and bumping it to a later time might indicate that such a thing is possible.  (But if so, I’d wager it gets to tough it out at least one more season.)

Which show are you most excited about returning?  Are there any changes you’d like to see in upcoming episodes?
