With the second season of ‘The Exorcist‘ tackling a different family, it should be no surprise that more casting is occurring and now John Cho (‘Star Trek Beyond‘,’Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle ‘) has joined the series! With his inclusion, we’ve also learned a little bit more as to what to expect going forward.

Cho will be playing Andrew Kim, “a former child psychologist who runs a group home for five at-risk foster children on a secluded private island off the coast of Seattle.” Things kick off when one of the children who are under his care ends up being “targeted by a powerful force” and likely is possessed. Things start from there as we see Alfonso Herrera’s Father Tomas Ortega and Ben Daniels’ Marcus Keane who no longer is a priest heading out to battle this evil. However, we’ll see the fight go all the way to the Vatican as Kurt Egyiawan’s Father Bennett is working to find those in the Church who have switched to following a much darker path.

Cho has worked in both films and on television throughout the years though hasn’t done that much in horror. His ability to portray any genre from comedy to science fiction should work well in the series and gives the writers a wide range of character depth which they could explore.

While we’ll sadly no longer be seeing the Rance family outside of possibly a cameo or two, it sounds exciting to see these priests head out into fully uncharted territory as this will be what makes or breaks the show. I’m hoping Fox has learned from the mistakes of other suspense shows such as ‘Sleepy Hollow‘ and we won’t see the rating decline that happened there.
