Well, we have been hearing about it for some time now, but according to EW, it is now official, the 8th and final season of ‘Game of Thrones’ will indeed only have 6 episodes. Combined with the minimal 7 episode count of Season 7 of the beloved series, that means we only have 13 more episodes left for ‘Game of Thrones,’ which is somewhat sad, but in another way, kind of great.

There is no longer time to waste, no more filler episodes. I mean, to be fair, previous seasons only had 10 episodes to begin with, which was not that many in the first place, but it still felt like there were some episodes that were there to bridge the gap or set up more important episodes later on. Now, there simply is no time for that. Every episode needs to move fast, do lots of work, and take full advantage of the remaining life of the series. And who knows? A lot of these episodes could end up being longer episodes because the writers and producers know there are not many left, and they want to make sure they are squeezing everything they can into these remaining 13, and I do not think I am alone in saying I would not mind at all sitting through episodes over an hour in length if they are advancing the story and part of the epic end-game that Benioff and Weiss have been crafting with George R.R. Martin for all of these years.

What are your thoughts on the final season of the series only have 6 episodes? Do you think it will feel rushed? Or do you think it sounds like it is just enough episodes to tell their story right without trying to draw everything out? Share your opinions on the matter in the comments below!
