The cast of ‘Deadpool 2‘ is growing as Jack Kesy (‘Baywatch’,’The Strain’) has signed on as one of the film’s villains. He’ll be joining Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Monica Baccarin as Vanessa, Stefan Kapacic as Colossus, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Josh Brolin as Cable, and Zazie Beetz as Domino. While my money will have Wade going up against Cable and Domino at the outset of the film before finally becoming mercenary besties, that does leave a bad guy that they’ll all have to go up against and Kesy has that part.

There isn’t confirmation on Kesy’s role quite yet, but the source seems to indicate that he’ll be playing Black Tom Cassidy. He is a long-standing character in the X-Men universe that was introduced in 1976 who mainly goes up against his cousin Banshee and whatever team he is on at the time but also has had a slew of run-ins with the Merc with the Mouth.

Black Tom has a strange power of manipulating energy from plants and can shoot off blasts if he has a wooden staff in hand. Not only did he raise Banshee’s daughter Siryn into a life of crime but was also often paired with Juggernaut which could indicate an exciting unannounced villain that is unstoppable who could show up.

Juggernaut will be a great fit if Colossus has a prominent role in the film as the two have often butted heads.

Either way, Black Tom would be a fun change from the first film in having a mutant with some actual powers that could be interesting to see on screen. At the very least he has a powerset that greatly varies from the firepower that Deadpool, Domino, and Cable will be packing for most of the film. Personally, I hope this does mean a Juggernaut inclusion as well since that would be a surprise I could wholeheartedly get behind!
