black-lightning

We’ve got bad news for fans of The CW’s Arrowverse who were hoping that ‘Black Lightning‘ will be an expansion of the franchise. Apparently, the series won’t take place in the same world. One of the big questions about the show was if it took place in the same world as ‘Arrow’, ‘The Flash’, ‘Supergirl’, and ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.’ Now we know it doesn’t appear to be. It sounds like the ‘Invasion’ crossover won’t be topped next season with another hero thrown into the mix.

The news came from The CW’s Mark Pedowitz who stated that:

“We do not aim to do a five-way crossover. Black Lightning, at this time, is not part of the Arrowverse. It is a separate situation. But there will be a big fourth quarter crossover with all four of the shows that are on in the fall.”

A few other factors are working against such a crossover from happening as well. ‘Black Lightning’ is set for a midseason premiere and not in the Fall as well as being filmed in Atlanta instead of Vancouver, so things don’t look good for a crossover to happen.

Never say never though as we’ve already learned that The CW has a multiverse in place, so feasibly we could see something down the line, just not a regular event or in the show’s first season. It should also be noted that above he did say “at this time” so such a joining of universes could see the light of day in the future.

It seems unlikely that Greg Berlanti wouldn’t want his shows joined somewhere down the line.

Are you looking forward to ‘Black Lightning’ standing on its own legs or did you wish that he might have a team up with one of the existing superheroes that The CW already has on the air? Do you feel that it will eventually have a crossover with The Arrowverse? Share your thoughts below!
