Robotech Issue 1 Cover A ArtgermFans of the 1980s iconic anime classic ‘Robotech‘ have always been thrilled for new variations and installments of the franchise. While some of the newer takes of the Macross saga have been given mixed reviews, it was announced at C2E2 that Titan Comics is planning to bring us a new series which takes us right back to where it all started from. This 85-episode series was first introduced back in 1985 and gave us a view of how humanity would deal with an alien threat that hits our world.

The new comic is set to be released this July and will be penned by Brian Wood with artist Marco Turini and colorist Marco Lesko bringing the series alive in each issue. Not only is this going to be the perfect introduction for new fans right at the start of it all but it will be seen through new eyes and give us new details for anyone who has loved the work for decades.

The book will bring us back to Macross Island and “casts a fresh eye over classic characters like Rick Hunter, Lisa Hayes, Lynn Minmei, Roy Fokker, Claudia Grant, and Henry Gloval.” We’re being told that “*nothing* can be taken for granted” which could mean that there are still some secrets which have never been shared with us that will be going on behind-the-scenes.

I can’t wait!

Aside from the cover which was illustrated by Stanley ‘Artgerm’ Lau above we have six variant covers to share with you today who were created by Karl Kerschl, Blair Shedd, Michael Dialynas, Waltrip Bros., one just labeled a Blue Line Veritech Sketch, and finally another by Karl Kerschl.

The art looks spectacular, and as I haven’t watched the series in at least ten or fifteen years, I relish the idea of being able to revisit it with a new take.
