Deadpool_Kills_the_Marvel_Universe_Again_1_CoverThree years ago we saw an event where ‘Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe’ and thanks to writer Cullen Bunn, this July we’ll see something all-new when ‘Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe Again!’

Last time around the Merc with the Mouth took out The Avengers, The X-Men, The Fantastic Four, a slew of cosmic entity, with Marvel’s own creative staff behind the project which included Bunn, Dalibor Talajic, editor Jordan D. White, and Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso. This time Deadpool’s sights will be set even higher. The first event didn’t take place in the 616 Universe which is why everyone is still alive, but it did kick off from Pyscho Man pushing Wade Wilson a little too far into his insanity.

Mistakes happen. With only five issues to once again tell the tale of everyone being dispatched by Marvel’s most infamous mercenary, it should prove to be a fun story as we explore a new reason that the unkillable Merc once again has a price on everyone’s head.

The same event isn’t going to happen twice though and this time around an entirely different set of circumstances will set Deadpool at odds with every superhero and villain under the sun as Bunn states:

“Well, I can tell you that Psycho Man is not involved in this tragic tale of woe, but absolutely keep an eye on the bad guys. Some classic Marvel villains have a hand in Deadpool’s murderous rampage. There’s a mystery to be solved, and a real exciting reveal to be had further down the road.”

In the last three years, we’ve seen huge changes to the landscape of Marvel’s comic continuity. X-Men have fought Inhumans. A second “Civil War” has happened. Heroes have quit. Heroes have been killed. New heroes are wearing older heroes mantles. The First Family is broken up. Dr. Doom is a good guy. Bunn explains how some of that will play out in this series:

“Everything about Deadpool’s approach to murdering these heroes is different. Even though we’re revisiting a story about Deadpool killing off your favorite heroes, this is a new tale, and we went to great lengths to make sure we weren’t walking the same path. As you said, the Marvel Universe is quite different than it was when we did the original series. It has evolved and grown. Deadpool’s murderous methodologies have changed, too.

That’s not to say he will have an easy time of it. There is a core group of Marvel heroes who are opposing Deadpool and trying to stop him. I think seeing these protagonists at work will be a lot of fun. Hey, maybe they’ll even stop Deadpool before he kills everyone!”

As the title hints that he is killing everyone again, I wouldn’t get my hopes up on Marvel’s Mightiest Heroes putting a stop to this.
