The following announcement could be the best news that I’ve read this morning, but Syfy had renewed their smash hit ‘The Expanse‘ for a third season! The 13-episode run is already slated to premiere in 2018! Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck had released the novel it is based on as James S.A. Corey, and I couldn’t be happier for them that we’re getting another season to enjoy. Of course, I couldn’t be happier for all of us either as this is probably the best space-themed science fiction on television at the moment.

That is pretty high praise to boot with the network also airing ‘Dark Matter’ and ‘Killjoys’ which give us a huge variety of science fiction shows in space at the moment. It is the one area not actively being pursued by other networks, and I’m glad that Syfy has stepped up their game to bring us some top quality programming once again.

According to President, Entertainment Networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Chris McCumber:

“THE EXPANSE is a gorgeous, thrilling, emotional series that has quite simply raised the bar for science fiction on television. We, along with the fans, are looking forward to continuing the journey with our partners at Alcon Television Group and the series’ brilliant cast and crew.”

There is no release date for the third season at this time, but as we’re still in the middle of the second which airs every Wednesday at 10/9c, that shouldn’t be too much of a surprise.

With everything going on with the Belters at the moment, I would have been let down if we didn’t get a follow-up season as there is not enough time to properly end the current story arcs.

Are you happy to hear that ‘The Expanse’ will be back for another season? How long do you think the show will be able to deliver a solid plot that keeps us coming back for more? Share your thoughts below!
