hellboy3

After recently getting fans hopes up, Guillermo del Toro has just rained on their parade by announcing that ‘Hellboy III‘ won’t be happening “and that is to be the final thing about it.” The announcement came on Twitter after he had promised to speak with Ron Perlman and Mike Mignola to go over the possibility of the film and things sounded good on both del Toro and Perlman’s end. While we have no clue if Mignola shot the idea down or something else got in the way of an endcap to the cinematic ‘Hellboy’ trilogy, we do know that we will never be seeing it hit the big or small screen.

Here was the tweet that del Toro sent out to break all of our hearts:

It could be a timing issue, a budget issue, Mignola may have shot down the idea. At this point things are vague and it sounds like we’ll never know exactly what happened. With ‘Hellboy III’ off the table though it does leave one actor open for other superhero roles:

I still think Perlman would make a great Cable for ‘Deadpool 2’ and ‘X-Force.’

I’m not sure if any of us had our hopes up at this point that ‘Hellboy III’ would still be happening even with del Toro’s interest earlier this year. Still, knowing that it is officially over means, we can all start wondering what the eventual reboot will be like since we all know it will only be a matter of time before some studio options the rights for it.

Are you sad to hear that ‘Hellboy III’ is officially dead or were you already convinced that it wouldn’t happen? If the franchise does end up getting rebooted who would you like to see fill Hellboy’s shoes? Share your thoughts below!
