american-gods-preview-coverWith the televised adaptation from Bryan Fuller hitting Starz still coming, we’ve just learned that ‘American Gods’ is also heading to the comic realm! The work isn’t a tie-in to the series but is set to adapt the first novel into a twenty-seven-issue series that is split across three arcs.

P. Craig Russell who has previously worked with Gaiman will be writing the comic while Scott Hampton (‘Hellboy’,’The Books of Magic’) will be illustrating the majority of the work. I did say the majority as Mark Buckingham (‘Fable’), Walt Simonson (‘Thor’), and Colleen Doran (‘The Sandman’) will be working on special sequences for the series. Glenn Fabry (‘Preacher’) and Adam Brown will handle the covers with variants by Dave McKean, David Mack, and Fabio Moon.

This run is set to be spread across three story arcs titled “Shadows”, “My Ainsel”, and “The Moment of the Storm.” It is going to be released through Dark Horse Comics and the first installment of ‘American Gods: Shadow’ will launch on March 15th both physically and digitally.

Personally, while I quite enjoy the look that we’ve got so far I do have to say that I believe that I’m more eager for the television series to kick off. I do think that this will be a fantastic interpretation as Dark Horse’s take on Gaiman’s work has historically been enjoyable reads.
