Chris Pratt was on quite a roll with back-to-back hits, but his two most recent pictures ‘The Magnificent Seven’ and ‘Passengers’ have stumbled at the box office.  But he remains one of the most charming stars in Hollywood and it may help for him to return to one of his breakthrough roles, as Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’.

Pratt is back, zipping through space with his ragtag gang of space criminals-turned-saviors, Zoë Saldana as Gamora, David Bautista as Drax and the voices of Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket.  This go-around, they are joined by Gamora’s duplicitous sister Nebula played by Karen Gillan and Yondu as portrayed by Michael Rooker.  Pom Klementieff also muscles in on the action as newcomer Mantis.

In preparation for the film’s upcoming May release, Marvel Studios has released 13 new still images from the movie/latest trailer.  Unfortunately, the new additions aren’t included, but the pics feature new hi-res looks at Pratt, Saldana and Rocket and Baby Groot.

Check them out below:

Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” is directed by James Gunn and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, Sean Gunn, Tommy Flanagan, Laura Haddock and Kurt Russell. Kevin Feige is producing, and Louis D’Esposito, Jonathan Schwartz, Victoria Alonso, Nik Korda and Stan Lee are the executive producers. The screenplay is by James Gunn. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” blasts into US theaters on May 5, 2017.

Also, if you look closely at the second two pictures of Baby Groot, tinkering with that mysterious device, it appears he MAY be interacting with Cosmo the space dog.  Cosmo popped up in the post-credits stinger of the first ‘Guardians’ and has appeared on the ‘Guardians’ cartoon series.  Is it possible that this “exhibit” in The Collector’s museum gets loose and joins up with the gang in ‘Vol. 2’?  I think that would be cool!

Are you ready to zip back to the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
