The devastating news that Carrie Fisher has passed away weighs heavily on fans but especially on her family, friends, and those who have worked with her. Fisher helped start the ‘Star Wars’ franchise that has entertained and inspired generations of sci-fi lovers and her co-star and dear friend Mark Hamill has eloquently expressed what we all feel right now.

Earlier today Hamill wrote some of his thoughts on his Facebook page expressing his love and heartbreak to his “beloved space twin” in this touching tribute:

Hamill as certainly put into words that many of us are feeling. As he wrote, she “took our collective breath away” and was “OUR Princess.”

Fans will get to see Fisher one last time as General Leia Organa in ‘Star Wars VIII’ as it is being reported that she had finished filming her scenes before she passed. Whether she will share the screen with Hamill as Luke Skywalker remains to be seen, but what is known is that she will have a much greater role than she did in ‘The Force Awakens.’ Seeing her one last time as the character that left a mark in our hearts will not only be exciting but also heartbreaking with this great loss.

The galaxy far far away shines a little less bright today.

Our thoughts and best-wishes are with Fisher’s loved ones and friends during this time. Rest in peace, Carrie Fisher.
