Following the midseason finale of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, ABC and Marvel Television announced that Natalia Cordova-Buckley would be starring as Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez in her very own digital spinoff. Titled ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Slingshot’, the six-part series focuses on Yo-Yo and a secret mission that she embarked on between the third and fourth seasons of the popular TV show set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and after ‘Captain America: Civil War’). And now after the show has been out there in the world for just over a week, the House of Ideas has released a brand new behind the scenes featurette to show us how this all came together.

In a new video on the Marvel Entertainment YouTube channel, Cordova-Buckley was joined by first time director and comic book legend Joe Quesada, co-star Clark Gregg, and more to discuss the process of making ‘Slingshot’. Also, if you listen very closely, you might get the idea that Marvel and ABC are looking to do more digital programs like this one. While we anxiously wait for some developments on that front, check out the featurette below, followed by the official synopsis of the series:

Now that Daisy has returned to S.H.I.E.L.D., Yo-Yo wants to talk to her about a secret the two of them share. In a flashback, we start to learn about the day Yo-Yo signed the Sokovia Accords. But we also discover Yo-Yo is tracking a dangerous threat from her past.

Taking place shortly before the beginning of Season Four, this digital series features the character of Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez (Natalia Cordova-Buckley), an Inhuman with the ability to move with super-speed. As a person with powers, she must sign the recently instituted Sokovia Accords, the worldwide agreement that regulates and tracks those with super powers. However, the restrictions of the Accords are in direct conflict with a personal mission she’s desperate to fulfill, a mission that will test her abilities, her allegiances, and will include some tense encounters with our most popular S.H.I.E.L.D. team members.

And if you haven’t had the opportunity to check out the show in its entirety yet, you can watch all six parts in the playlist right here:

What did you think of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Slingshot’? Do you hope to see more short-form digital content set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future? And what other characters from the show specifically do you think would benefit from a spinoff like this? Sound off in the comments.

‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ starring Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, and Henry Simmons returns on January 10, 2017 at 10:00pm on ABC.
