alien: covenant

After many photo teases, the first trailer for ‘Alien: Covenant’ has finally arrived! After a somewhat lackluster response to ‘Prometheus,’ it looks like Ridley Scott has returned to what made ‘Alien’ a classic: the gore and horrors of space. If there was any doubt about this, then they should be dashed by this red band trailer for ‘Covenant.’

The trailer gives a very big ‘Aliens’ vibe with the action while keeping the suspense of ‘Alien’. The film also promises to introduce a new creature which has been dubbed as a Neomorph – and let me just say, the introduction seen in this trailer is one you won’t forget.

While ‘Prometheus’ did restart the ‘Alien’ franchise, Scott has stated that ‘Alien: Covenant’ will be the “first of three origin stories” which will answer the “very basic questions posed in ‘Alien’: why the alien, who might have made it and where did it come from?” The trailer definitely makes this connection quickly.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise.  The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world.  When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.

‘Alien: Covenant’ stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, and Benjamin Rigby.  The film hits theaters everywhere on May 19, 2017.
