Following the season one finale of ‘Westworld’ on Sunday night, fans were likely clamoring to see more of Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins. After all, his portrayal of Dr. Robert Ford was one of his best roles in years. Well, be careful what you wish for because though we’ll be getting more of him, the legendary actor’s next performance is attached to the brand new ‘Transformers’ movie from Michael Bay.

On Monday evening, Paramount Pictures released the first trailer for ‘Transformers: The Last Knight‘. Featuring an ominous voiceover from Hopkins and flashes of warriors waging battle throughout history, the fifth installment of the live-action film franchise based on the popular Hasbro toy line appears to have evolved from the gratuitous explosions that we’ve come to expect from the majority Bay’s filmography. Sure, there are knights and Nazis and all sorts of other soldiers alongside the robots in disguise, but could this direct sequel to ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ offer more than the usual feature film length fight scenes of metal giants punching each other? Is there some sort of deeper meaning that drew the filmmaker back to helm another one even after he adamantly denied that he would return for more? The short answer is no. It just takes a while to build up to all of that in this trailer, which you can check out for yourself in the video below:

Said to pick up right where the last film left off, ‘The Last Knight’ finds Optimus Prime heading towards Cyberton with the Seed to confront the Creators. Apparently, we’ll delve into the Transformers mythology unlike ever before as they explore their creation and evolution into what they have become today. Meanwhile, Mark Wahlberg’s genius inventor Cade Yeager on the run from the Transformers Reaction Force due to his association with the Autobots. Also, King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table are involved somehow. So yeah, Bay is really all in on this one.

If the tone of this article wasn’t indication enough, not even Anthony Hopkins is enough to get this writer interested in another ‘Transformers’ movie. But I’m clearly in the minority since they keep making enough money to make more. So for the fans of this series out there, are you excited for the next chapter in this epic saga? Does this first trailer entice you to catch the film in theaters next summer? And how do you feel about Bumblebee and Optimus coming to blows the end of this preview? Share your thoughts and theories in the comments.

‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ starring Mark Wahlberg, Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, John DiMaggio, Ken Watanabe, Laura Haddock, Stanley Tucci, Jerrod Carmichael, Santiago Cabrera, John Goodman, John Turturro, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Isabela Moner, Gil Birmingham, Jean Dujardin, and Anthony Hopkins hits theaters on June 23, 2017.
