Luke Skywalker Star Wars The Force Awakens

SPOILER ALERT: This contains potential SPOILERS for ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ so proceed with caution!

At Star Wars Celebration, Mark Hamill hosted his own one-man panel and made this bold proclamation:

” I was looping Episode VIII yesterday and there’s dialogue in here and I thought ‘Oh boy, I can already see this on a tee shirt’.  Rian Johnson is amazing.  He’ll make you forget all about ‘May the Force Be With You’.  He’s come up with so many new catchphrases.”

Considering that “May the Force be with you” is one of the most famous lines in pop culture history, that’s a mighty hefty statement to make.  And as luck would have it, it appears that one such spicy line has leaked online.

Once more, proceed with caution if you don’t want to read any SPOILERS:

Reportedly, in the first ‘Episode VIII‘ trailer, which is expected to arrive early next year, Luke utters the following:

“You contain the spark that will rekindle the fire.”

You can probably imagine the importance of this line, as it is speculated that Luke says this to Rey (Daily Ridley), indicating that she is key to rebuilding the Jedi Order.  At the end of ‘Episode VII’ Rey is seen visiting Luke, who has lived in self-imposed exile for decades at the first Jedi Temple in Ahch-To.  Rey presents him with his old lightsabre and the film ended on that cliffhanger.

As you may also recall, Luke never actually spoke in ‘Episode VII’ so this upcoming clip will be the first time in 30+ years that fans will get to hear what he sounds like.

Will it make us forget “May the Force be with you?”  Eh, I don’t know about all that, but I can see it on a tee shirt, as Hamill predicted.

What do you think?  How does this new line of dialogue strike you?
