WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD for anyone who has not yet finished the 2nd Season of ‘Daredevil!’
So with all of the recent casting news for Marvel/ Netflix’s ‘The Defenders,’ it it quickly becoming apparently that if an actor/character appeared in/ is going to appear in one of the main series’ (‘Daredevil,’ ‘Jessica Jones,’ ‘Luke Cage,’ ‘Iron Fist’) more likely than not they are going to be showing up during ‘The Defenders’ series. After learning about all of the side- characters that will be standing alongside the heroes, many of whom we did not think would show up due to their relative obscurity in terms of general audience knowledge of who exactly they are outside of their series, it should come as no shock to hear that another character has been announced to appear in “The Defenders.’
Apparently, even being dead is not enough to stop someone from showing up, as Elodie Yung’s Elektra will be in ‘The Defenders,’ despite the fact that her character died at the end of ‘Daredevil’ Season 2. However, as fans know, criminal organization The Hand had already named her as the powerful Black Sky entity, which means they did not truly believe she could die, so they took her body and put it in the re-animation egg/tomb thing, which we assume is capable of bringing people back to life, hence how she can be around for ‘The Defenders.’ Whether she will be an ally or an enemy to our heroes is unknown, it all depends on her mental state upon coming back to life, and whether she is still herself when she regains consciousness.
What do you think of Elektra making an appearance in ‘The Defenders?’ Did you think they were going to save her coming back for ‘Daredevil’ season 3, or did you guess her storyline was going to dovetail into ‘The Defenders?’ Will she be an enemy to the team? Could her undead-ness make her an unwilling pawn of the new villain played by Sigourney Weaver? Share your thoughts and theories in the comments below!
