In late June, the world lost Anton Yelchin in a tragic car accident. The young actor had dazzled audiences in film like ‘Charlie Bartlett’, ‘Star Trek’, ‘Like Crazy’, and ‘Green Room’, but he was taken from us just as he started to branch out even further to share his creative gifts with the world. However, at the time of his passing, there were a few projects that had yet to be released, so there are still a few opportunities left to see his incredible talents on display. One of those works happens to be Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Trollhunters,’ which hits Netflix this holiday season. Of course promoting the show at an event like New York Comic Con had to be difficult without him, but producers Marc Guggenheim and Rodrigo Blaas made sure that they and the rest of the cast and crew did their best to honor him.

While speaking to Guggenheim and Blaas in the press room before they took the stage at The Theater at Madison Square Garden for the world premiere of the two-part pilot, both producers talked about the impact that Yelchin had not only left on the show, but on everyone that he had worked with. They even went so far as to say that the star was the soul of the entire project.

On top of discussing Yelchin’s contributions to ‘Trollhunters,’ the producers talked about the journey from feature film to Netflix series, maintaining the movie-like viewing experience, and not talking down to the young audience similar to the Amblin Entertainment films of the late 80s and the 90s like ‘The Goonies’, ‘E.T.’, ‘The Land Before Time’, ‘We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story’, and many more. Check out everything that they had to say in the video below:

‘Trollhunters’ starring Anton Yelchin, Kelsey Grammer, Ron Perlman, Steven Yeun, Charlie Saxton, Jonathan Hyde, Lexi Madrano, Amy Landecker, and Fred Tatasciore premieres on Netflix on December 23, 2016.
