Lexa Doig is coming to Star City, as Talia Al-Ghul, the daughter of Ra’s Al-Ghul and a deadly assassin herself. Doig will appear in episode 10 of the current fifth season of ‘Arrow’.  She is described as “Worldly and cultured, Talia is an elite warrior who doesn’t pick sides but rather creates her own.”

talia-al-ghulTalia is also the half-sister of Nyssa played by Katrina Law, but it’s currently unknown whether the the two sisters will meet or what their relationship will be like.  Of course on ‘Arrow’, Oliver killed Ra’s Al-Ghul, so it’s entirely possible that Talia will be out for revenge.

Doig is no stranger to genre television.  She has starred on ‘Continuum’, ‘V’, ‘Stargate: SG-1’, ‘The 4400’, ‘Andromeda’, ‘Flash Gordon’ and ‘TekWar’ and has also appeared on ‘Smallville’, ‘Supernatural’ and ‘Eureka’ among many other credits.  Lately, she has been starring as Sally Allison in the ‘Aurora Teagarden’ made-for-TV movie series on the Hallmark Channel, based on the books by Charlaine Harris (author of the ‘Sookie Stackhouse’ novel series which inspired the TV show ‘True Blood’).  Hope being on the Hallmark Channel hasn’t softened her up too much!

This announcement comes roughly a week after a Warner Brothers insider stated that neither Talia nor Ra’s Al-Ghul would be appearing in the DC Comics movies, partially due to their featured roles in ‘The Dark Knight’, in which Marion Cotillard portrayed Talia and Liam Neeson her father.

This further reinforces the practice of only allowing the TV shows to use characters that will NOT be in the movies.

In the comics, Talia was created by writer Dennis O’Neil and artist Bob Brown.  She first appeared in 1971’s ‘Detective Comics’ #411.  She is usually depicted as a villain, but serves good when it benefits her.  She is one of Batman’s many love interests and the mother of his son, Damian Wayne a.k.a. the current Robin.

‘Arrow’ airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
