With ‘Westworld‘ having a variety of virtualized worlds to explore within it, an idea for a medieval world based on ‘Game of Thrones‘ has been pitched that even George R.R. Martin and the ‘Westworld’ showrunners have discussed! Martin actually had the idea prior to ‘Westworld’ premiering and brought it up to Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy a few months back. Clearly, it is an idea that they wouldn’t be adverse to.

According to Nolan:

“We love George and our daughter’s first trip anywhere in the world was out to Santa Fe for a screening of The Prestige at his theater, the Jean Cocteau. He’s a lovely guy and a stunning writer and it’s flattering he would encourage a crossover. We should be so lucky.”

The only problem Joy had with the idea was that:

“I need to be believe that dragons are real. I want them be a real thing. So as much as I love George, I can’t lose that for myself!”

With legal hurdles to jump through, not including actor schedules, sets probably scheduled to be taken down when ‘Game of Thrones’ comes to a close, and a variety of other problems that are likely to crop up this is likely more of some wishful thinking than anything else. Of course, Nolan did say of areas outside of ‘Westworld’ being introduced that:

We’ve got an awful lot of material to cover just with Westworld, but you want to stay tuned…

With Roman World not being a factor yet it seems a stretch that a Fantasy World set in Westeros could happen but if it gave us an option to have these amazing actors return to their roles ones ‘Game of Thrones’ comes to an end or even bring back some fan favorites like Ned Stark, Robb Stark, Catelyn Stark, Khal Drogo, the Dire Wolves, King Joffrey who sadly will look older, Tywin Lannister, and so many more!

While I do like the idea, I sadly just don’t see this happening.
